What if…your words were all someone needed to hear to change their day, their perspective, their LIFE.
This is why we blog, we tweet, we share…because in simple terms, we know it’s our job to inspire, push, prompt CHANGE. We do what we do because we know that what we do makes a difference and not just to one person, but to many.
You see, we know that goodness gets shared and in that sharing, someone hears exactly what they needed to hear…on a bad day, on a good day, on a day when inspiration turns to frustration.
The Story of Irena Sendler
Irena was a Polish social worker who smuggled 2,500 Jewish children out of the Warsaw Ghetto during World War 2. Working with an underground resistance organization, she got permission to work in the Ghetto as a plumber and smuggled the babies out in her toolbox and children in a sack.
Despite training her dog to bark when the Nazis were near (to cover the sound of crying children), Irena was eventually caught and tortured. She narrowly escaped execution, surviving the war. In 2007, she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, losing to Al Gore for his presentation on global warming.
Her story was passed along from profile to profile on Facebook, inspiring people to think about how they can make a difference, what they can do as one person to better our world, to put into perspective the world we currently live in. Thanks to people sharing, her story lives on, continuing to do good in the world.
Thank you, Irena and thank you to all the people who took the time to share her story – just in case someone else needed a little inspiration. So the next time you read something funny, inspiring, insightful, just remember to pass it along.
THANK YOU
