What a Year of Big Change Taught Me About Life and Business

You can embrace change…or if you are truly brave, you can make it happen. That’s the journey that unfolded for us when we sold our newly renovated house, moved to a new province, and set about living the life we always dreamed of living. It wasn’t easy – it took years of planning to make it happen – but it was worth it.

A List of Random Life and Business Lessons…

Change is Good – We need change, even if it feels scary. Our personal growth depends on it.

Everything (and Anything) is Possible – As soon as you cut it down to size, it’s just a matter of putting one foot in front of the other (again and again and again as many times as needed).

Life First, Work Second – If you don’t put your life first, no one will! Make time for your kids, your partner, yourself.

Ask…No DEMAND What You are Worth – Sometimes you will get it, sometimes (usually for reasons unrelated to your worth) you won’t.

Involve Your Children – Designing your life is an important skill – one that takes most adults years to figure out. Let your children help you work through the process.

There Will ALWAYS be More To Do – More work, more errands, more…and you can choose not to do it.

Each Step Leads to the Next – Sometimes you have to take the first step before the path forward unfolds. The hardest one to take is the first.

The Good Stuff is Worth It – It’s not always easy, but it’s definitely always worth it.

Never Stop – Use your change to make more change and never stop changing. We all deserve to be the best us we can be.

Carla Young, terrarenewables.ca Publisher If there’s living proof that women can have it all – and then some – it’s Carla Young. Building her multiple businesses on a virtual work-at-home model, Carla is an inspiration to other mothers who want to start a lifestyle business. During her early days as a mom entrepreneur, Carla made every single mistake in the book (and a few new ones for good measure). Realizing that “doing it all” was unhealthy and unsustainable, Carla started by getting organized to the extreme, developing support systems for both her work and family. After other mothers started asking how they too could enjoy her lifestyle, Carla launched terrarenewables.ca to support moms at work, at home and at play (because every mommy deserves a little me-time)!
