There are a number of must-have skills you need as an entrepreneurial mom in order to run your own business. Organization, marketing, financial management, team building and business administration are just a few examples. Developing these types of entrepreneurial skills is very important as they can contribute to creating a successful venture.

So, we wanted to know, if you could gift your children an entrepreneurial skill, what would it be and why?

We know that children learn from watching us. They follow our lead in many aspects of their lives. However, when you have your own business, there are unique life lessons to be modeled for our ever-watchful children. After all “It’s not only children who grow. Parents do too. As much as we watch to see what our children do with their lives, they are watching us to see what we do with ours. I can’t tell my children to reach for the sun. All I can do is reach for it, myself. – Joyce Maynard”.

Teaching our kids good habits is part and parcel of being a parent where we strive to model what is best for them. Good eating habits, healthy living habits, study habits, fitness habits, sleep habits, personal discipline habits, grooming habits …the list goes on and on! However, when you are a parent and an entrepreneur, there are additional habits that we want our kids to learn from us.

When you work from home, that should imply to others that you spend time during your day at home actually working, right? Well, you’d think so, but what do about those who just don’t get it? You know, those family members, neighbours or friends who forget the working part, don’t respect your work time, and just plain take for granted that you are home!
