Sometimes it’s just one of those days – the morning cereal gets spilt on the floor, someone (not naming any names) decides to paint the cat, and in your rush to get to that important client meeting, you fail to notice the shmoo on the elbow of your suit jacket (until it’s too late).
We all have those days (and that is why we made this list):
#1: Aero Latte – Because sometimes motherhood is synonymous with being a shut-in, a girl needs a way to whip up her favorite frothy coffee beverage. Just stick this teeny tiny little whirling device in hot milk and voila – instant bliss (without the trip to Starbucks)!
#2: bliss lemon+sage body scrub – The “Calgon Take Me Away” go-to for the modern mom. Nothing beats a scrubby shower with this delicious scrub for washing away a day (and-a-half).
#3: Anything by Kathy Buckworth – Following the mantra that “Sometimes you have to laugh otherwise you’d cry”, girlfriend will get you giggling about the realities of being a mom. Her current book “Shut Up and Eat” is perfect after a day of food frustrations. So shut up and go buy it.
#4: Earplugs – Yes, I said it. Moms need earplugs to tune-out the kid commotion while Dad is in charge for a little (much-needed) inner space me-time. Enough said.
#5: Skype – Just knowing a trusted mom friend is a “Heeeellllllppppp meeeeee!” clickity-click away (day or night) without the worry about background noise is all it takes to calm the frazzled nerves and get a little perspective after a long day of parenting.
#6: Chocolate – Every house needs a secret stash of chocolate to fend off ‘Grumpy Mommy’ moments. Hide in a place that husbands and children cannot find and only use in dire emergencies (possibly daily).
#7: Girl Power Song – It doesn’t matter if it’s Hits of the 80’s or the latest Top 40 hit – every mom needs a power song to rock out to when life gets a little crazy (and kids love it too)! Check out my Girl Power Song list!
#8: Stress ball – How is it that squishing the earth is so soothing? Don’t ask why – just keep one handy and squish away when you need to burn off a bit of stress.
#9: Handheld massager – Do I really need to explain? It’s like battery-powered happiness with three little jiggling legs.
#10: Journal – And then again, it’s sometimes just nice to sit back and reflect on the journey of motherhood in an old-fashioned paper journal (fancy cover not required, but a nice touch).
