Gift Ideas for the Impossible to Please Giftee on your List
Wine Snob – You know, the one who knows more about wine than your local sommelier? Consider a dessert ice wine or a fortified wine for something different.
If picking out a bottle for her to try gives you the shivers, try a wine tasting class at a local shop, or a subscription to the Holy Grail of wine snobbery, Wine Spectator.
Teacher – Just say no to chocolate and cutesy kid stuff! Give Mrs. or Mr. So-and-So a much-deserved break with a beautiful Numi Flowering tea, or a gourmet gift basket from your local market.
Teachers are the one exception to the “Absolutely NO gift cards” rule because if you think about it, an entire class of gifts multiplied by however many years, that’s a lot of gifts. Plus it’s a nice way to say thank you as a class.
Gourmet Foodie – Poke around your local markets for exotic herb and spice blends for the experimental chef to play with in the kitchen. Seriously – nothing pleases them more than those hard to find ingredients!
If you are stuck on more traditional gifts, consider books, like “What to Drink with What You Eat” or “The Flavor Bible”, or must-have gadgets, like Flex-It Silicone Measuring Cups, Stainless Steel Flat Whisk or Locking Tongs.
Mother-in-Law – Check out the local art markets, craft fairs or Etsy.com for artisan jewelry or handmade scarves. If your MIL is the cozy type, one of your favorite books and the Mighty Leaf Chocolate Truffle Tea Collection.
If you are up for a splurge, get her a KODAK Pulse Digital Frame (because it’s the gift that keeps on giving them pictures of their grandkids – sent directly to the picture frame via email).
Eco-Friendly People – What do you get for your friend who wants to save the earth? Besides breaking out the recycled paper wrapping paper (or even better a reusable cloth gift bag), think earth-friendly, toxic-free, organic!
