Christmas gifts, holiday parties, home decorations, school performances, winter break…systems reboot? Yes, it’s that time of year again!
Towards the end of the year, when businesses are shut for the holidays, the parties are popping and the family is hovering around the dinner table, it is the perfect time to look at your family, personal and business systems to make sure you are on track for where you ultimately WANT to go.
In other words…by taking some time now to see what needs some tweaking in your business and personal life, you can set your team, family and life up to soar to great heights in the New Year.
One of the most important aspects of entrepreneurship for moms is having a firm grasp on your WHY. When the holidays are upon us and we have time to focus on the family, this is an opportune time to think about why you started your business in the first place and then analyze what is or isn’t working in terms of your goals.
Knowing your why is the first step in creating systems that will bring you to your goals. Once you have a deep understanding of this, it’s time to get to work!
5 Simple Steps to Rebooting your Systems
#1: Get crystal clear about your personal, family and business goals for the New Year. Then, work backwards to create a weekly, monthly and annual schedule that moves you toward all of your goals. List out at least 3 concrete action steps to achieve each of your goals. These are your systems
#2: Get organized, clear out the clutter and trim the fat in your work and live spaces! When we are not streamlined for productivity, we tend to get easily distracted and overwhelmed. By cleaning up your surroundings, removing (selling, donating or storing) unused objects and stocking up on needed supplies, you will be able to increase your effectiveness and decrease your stress!
#3: Analyze your client attraction, client service, client loyalty and team management systems to see what areas need a little TLC for maximum effectiveness. Do you have clients who are dropping off? Are your publicity efforts gaining traction? What strategies are giving you the greatest return on your investment and which tactics are simply not producing?
Weak systems result in a loss of revenue. Strong systems create a positive user experience and a more client referrals.
#4: Once you have identified the holes in your systems, it’s time to fill them in (or hire a business coach to do this for you if you can’t see them). One of the best ways to do this is to go through your sales process as a potential client and analyze the client experience to see what it feels like to engage with you from the outside.
#5: Enjoy the holidays and outsource as much of the reboot work as you can to your team! Don’t expect to have all of your systems in place and rebooted by January 1. Use this time to relax and reboot your internal systems as well. Then after the holidays, create an action plan, a strategy and a calendar that your team can use to boost your systems for even greater results.
It only takes a few days of rebooting to get your systems in order and on track to your ultimate goals. This is work that we often neglect, but can mean the difference between achieving minimal results or getting what you have always wanted out of your business and life. Now, are you ready to reboot?
